How To Turn Your Adversity Into Your Power

by Cort Davies

If you are like me, you have most likely read a tremendous amount about your Crohn’s or Colitis condition. I mean one minute you are living a great healthy life and the next minute there is this wave of uncertainty.

You ask yourself “how can I live a normal life with this pain, urgency, anxiety, and depression?” This is a major turning point and that adversity you are now experiencing gets in the way of just being whom you want to be.

In my 16 years of living with Crohn’s Disease I have read lots about the disease. I went on dozens of forums, I read books, science journals, consulted nutritionists, and spoke to countless doctors. This led me to understand my condition better and help me to do more digging into possible causes and solutions for my own particular situation.

I am no doctor but you don’t need to be a doctor to understand the generalities about a disease and search for alternatives ways to feel better. You have the right as a human to do this and it empowered me to take on my adversity and create the power to overcome it.

Overcoming Adversity ConceptThere are two ways to handle your current situation:

  1. You can solely rely on the advice and treatment of your health care professionals.

  1. You can take responsibility for yourself. You can help yourself. You can learn about your body and hopefully take control of it.

I can see you now rolling your eyes at #2. You are thinking, “I am not a doctor. How am I supposed to cure myself?”

The fact is those of us with Crohn’s or Colitis (as well as other chronic illnesses) rely too much on our doctors and our medicine and not enough on ourselves.

It’s time to stop feeling bad for yourself and turn that adversity into power.

What I am going to share with you over the next few months are the steps I took to sending my Crohn’s Disease and its symptoms packing.

Will it work for everyone? No, of course not. But isn’t it worth a try? Of course it is. Nothing I share with you is going to be dangerous or detrimental to your health.

I have gone through the pain and anxiety that Crohn’s Disease causes. I have seen countless people suffer. What I am telling you is that YOU DON’T HAVE TO SUFFER if you REALLY don’t want too.

What I am trying to say is that you HAVE A CHOICE in the matter. You can defeat this if you believe you can defeat this. Don’t put up with the suffering anymore. Follow what I share with you and find out for yourself what combination of diet and lifestyle change work for you.
